Even though we were happy to see our Cheetah mother this month, it was with great sadness that we learned she only had one cub with her instead of two. It is impossible to know what could have happened, but considering the cheetah cub mortality rate, which is about 70%, it could be a number of things. She was seen feeding on a freshly killed Impala, with the cub by her side. The cub is still a bit shy and ran into the cover of raisin bushes as the vehicles approached. The mother on the other hand allowed us to spend some time with her as she finished her meal, where after she joined her cub and disappeared. Let’s hope that this cub survives so we can enjoy even bigger and better sightings. The two coalitions of boys are looking good and still entertaining anyone who gets to see them...
